Sheffield City Regions call for businesses to get “ontrack” for HS2

The Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership is urging businesses across the region to make sure that they are well placed to maximise the economic benefits of HS2 to the region.

The Government confirmed the route to Sheffield Midland Station in July and Phase 1 contracts are now being let. HS2 Ltd expect 60% of supply chain contracts to go to SME’s, so there are plenty of opportunities available for businesses in the region.

Sir Nigel Knowles, Chair of the Sheffield City Region LEP, said: “HS2 will bring transformational change to our region as we work together to build a thriving, super-connected and successful economy. To realise its true potential, HS2 must be fully integrated with wider plans for Northern Powerhouse Rail which will bring fast, frequent connections from Sheffield to Leeds, Manchester and the North.”

Plenty of support and advice is available through the LEP’s ontrack4hs2 website (www.ontrack4hs2.org.uk) where business can download the latest supplier guides from HS2 and get top supply chain tips.

The ontrack4hs2 team will also be at SheffEx so please drop by to their stand and make sure that your business is up to speed on HS2 and the opportunities it will bring to the region.
