MRS Training and Rescue
For over 100 years, MRS Training & Rescue (formerly known as Mines Rescue Service), has developed specialist skills, experience and knowledge gained from working in difficult and potentially dangerous environments, to effect the rescue and escape of mine workers from underground.
However, given the gradual decline of the coal mines over many years, culminating in the closure of the last deep coal mine in December 2015, we have been able to expand and diversify to meet the needs of today’s health and safety market. We have been able to secure long term success by leveraging our expertise, and have branched out from underground mining into providing unique rescue services, specialist equipment (some of which has been designed using practical expertise gathered on the job), consultancy and a comprehensive range of accredited health and safety related products, training and services to a wide range of industries, including nuclear, aerospace, manufacturing and utilities.
Training and assessing customers’ employees to safely enter, work and exit from confined spaces, is offered at all of our seven training centres, and can also be delivered at customers’ premises by using our mobile rigs. We have been involved with industry in developing the National Occupational Standards, and all the confined space suite of qualifications awarded by City & Guilds are available at our accredited training centres. We have also developed bespoke courses for specific industries such as the water industry.
We offer a comprehensive range of health and safety training to a wide range of industries. We have developed our specialist skills, experience and knowledge from working in difficult and potentially high risk environments, and our team of qualified trainers not only provide expert training, but can impart real life scenarios of situations they have faced, to bring the learning to life.
We are also able to offer first class practical training in our state of the art confined space facilities, to prepare and train anyone who works in confined spaces. Here we can simulate how to prepare for entry, how to work in a safe manner while in a potentially dangerous environment and then create emergency situations where candidates are taught to escape in a safe manner. Our mobile training facility also allows us to offer confined space training and assessment at a customers’ premises if preferred.
At MRS Training & Rescue, we can provide highly specialised rescue and safety cover that can be tailored to meet your exact requirements, and complies with the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997.
We also offer a highly professional consultancy service for those requiring risk assessments, method statements or safe systems of work for hazardous tasks.
We can also provide, on request, a confined space assessment service which will highlight areas which can be designated as low, medium or high risk confined spaces.
If you wish to use your own trained personnel to carry out work in confined spaces, we can provide experienced, competent and accredited rescue / safety cover using an Emergency Response Team.
