ST WILFRID’S CENTRE – SHEFFIELD
St Wilfrid’s Centre is a charity day centre on Queens Road, Sheffield which supports homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded people.
Opening its doors over twenty three years ago, St Wilfrid’s provides adults with practical support, a sense of belonging, an extensive range of activities and personal development programmes.
Our clients are offered opportunities to develop life skills including numeracy, literacy, cooking, allotment skills, computer skills and more. Some clients have complex needs and support is offered by our dedicated Welfare Team, working in partnership with both statutory and voluntary agencies to achieve successful outcomes.
We are proud of our Skills Workshop where clients thrive, whilst learning skills for life and work which could improve their chances of finding future employment. We produce excellent, top quality promotional banners, rigid signs, glass etched goods, printed T shirts, photos to canvas and boast a well equipped wood workshop. Orders are regularly received from local businesses and we also have a shop on site, open Monday to Thursday, selling products made within the Skills Workshop.
Our dream is to raise £1.8 million to build a Residential Unit on land adjacent to St Wilfrid’s Centre. The first phase of the Residential will accommodate up to twenty vulnerable people, who will live there for up to two years. During that time they will attend St Wilfrid’s Centre Monday to Friday, where they will be supported by staff and volunteers, the aim being that ultimately they will be able to live independently and with dignity. Since 21 March 2013, a staggering £1,000,000 has been raised. All we need to do now is raise the rest!
