Car sales giant Sytner has announced the acquisition of The Car People.

Both companies have a large presence in the Sheffield City Region with local Sytner franchise assets including BMW, Mini, Land Rover and BMW. The Car People have a developed a multi location used car supermarket format with their Brittania Way, site in Catcliffe Rotherham displaying over 600 used vehicles for sale. Other sites at Wakefield, Manchester and Warrington are also included in the deal which nearly doubles the size of Sytner’s Used Vehicle Supermarket Division.

Sytner Group CEO Darren Edwards, said “The acquisition of The Car People enables Sytner to accelerate the expansion of our Used Car Supermarket Division and to further diversify our business into this growing sector of the market. This acquisition reinforces our commitment to significantly grow used car revenues and compliments our successful recent acquisition of CarShop.”

The acquisition is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2018.
